The Centre today said, under UDAN, Revival of unserved and underserved airports scheme, 74 underserved airports including 9 Heliports and 2 water aerodromes have been operationalised till end of February 2023. In a written reply, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh informed the Lok Sabha that during the past three years (since 2020), six Greenfield airports are functioning in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. The Minister also said currently there are 30 international airports operating in the country and government provides an enabling environment for growth of civil aviation sector but does not interfere in operational plans of the airlines. In another question, Gen Singh said Digi Yatra has been launched at Delhi, Bangalore and Varanasi airports. He informed the House that Digi Yatra is planned to be introduced at airports across the country in a phased manner. He also said currently, Digi Yatra app has approximately 5 lakh users and over 3 lakh air travellers across the country have used Digi Yatra.
