Bengaluru: After driving out of Bengaluru, the techie grabbed some biscuits and chocolates for his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. He even entertained her in the back seat. But the worry of pressure from lenders didn't let him rest and he killed the little girl before attempting suicide. "She started crying and I didn't have any money left with me. A worse situation awaited me if I returned home. I just hugged her tight and killed her. My helplessness to buy her food made me take the decision. I jumped into the lake with her to kill myself, but didn't drown," he told the police. Rahul Parmar, 45, a debt-ridden engineer who escaped a suicide attempt, confessed everything to the police. Rahul, who was arrested by Kolar police on the charge of murdering his daughter Jiya and dumping her body in a lake near Kendatti on the Bengaluru-Kolar highway, was taken to a site Mahazar on Friday as part of the crime-reconstruction procedure. According to the police, he sobbed uncontrollably at first but he regained control and began narrating his version. He broke down again when he saw his father Vinod and wife Bhavya standing on the lake bed. Rahul, a Gujarati technician living in Bengaluru, lost his job, incurred financial losses in cryptocurrency investment, and faced a police investigation for submitting a fraudulent robbery allegation. Rahul had pledged his wealth and informed his wife that he had been robbed of the jewellery. According to reports Rahul and Jiya went missing on November 15 after he took her out under the guise of going to school. The next morning, Jiya's body was discovered in the lake, and authorities assumed Rahul, too, had committed suicide. He was apparently very close to his daughter and chose to end her life and commit suicide to avoid the wrath of those from whom he had borrowed money.
